Fleet Management with Intelligent Temperature Monitoring and Alerts.

Perishable goods transported for long durations of time require constant monitoring and maintenance to ensure proper delivery.

Refrigerated Transport Temperature Monitoring

Networked with Fleet Manager© software, the refrigeration trailer temperature monitoring allows fleet managers to see temperature, location, status and history reports of reefer units on demand. This real-time information enables managers to identify the location and status of each refrigerated unit, and to ensure proper temperature control.

Eliminate Loss of Perishable Goods and High-Value Contents

Monitoring Oz’s Off Engine Drive Temperature Monitoring solution assists in the protection of refrigerated transport units and high-value temperature sensitive contents with real-time alerts, temperature zone monitoring, and unlimited web-based data access.

Multiple Zone Monitoring

Monitoring Oz’s specially crafted temperature sensor kit is used to retrieve readings on demand from temperature sensitive areas and can monitor up to 3 zones or for a single temperature solution monitor both return and discharge, giving you first line technical information. Standard 2 sensor solution comes pre boxed and with an easy to install wire harness. Every unit can easily be set to custom temperature limits – high and low – for each reefer.

The L2000T delivers accurate reporting information in 15 minute intervals, real-time GeoFencing, and is remotely accessible.

Monitoring-Oz launches new GPS tracking and temperature monitoring solution for Off Engine Drive refrigerated transport.
TempTrakka TT1000

Here at Monitoring-Oz we realise that not everyone in refrigerated transport is using the latest and greatest from Carrier Transicold or Thermo King. That is why we have developed a price point GSM solution to fill the gap between GPS tracking only and our full featured ReeferTrak® solution. You get full fleet management including driver behaviour and temperature monitoring with timed "out of temperature range" alerts. The temperature out of range alerts provided have logic built me to alleviate nuisance alarms.

The temperature probes used in this solution are digital and accurate to .5°c. Being digital they do not suffer from the inaccuracies associated with analog temperature probes and from one unit we can monitor 4 temperatures. This could be used in many configurations, you could have 4 separate compartments or 2 compartments with return and discharge or even one compartment with return, discharge and coil block monitored.

This solution is highly customisable with 4 digital inputs and 3 relay outputs. Together with the on-board logic engine it is very unlikely there would be a request we couldn't handle.

GSM vs Satellite for refrigerated transport monitoring

Demystifying the truths and half-truths.

GSM

Satellite

Coverage

Although GSM covers 98% of the “population” it misses a great deal of the land mass.  If you deliver from coast to coast GSM is not the answer for you.  If you deliver 3 or more hours away from metro areas GSM is probably not the answer for you.  In Monitoring Oz’s view GSM should only be used for suburban areas.

Coverage

Satellite for data, not positioning has 100% land mass coverage. You just need line of sight to the sky.

Real time data vs delayed

In order to alleviate the issue of coverage black spots it has been noted that some companies time stamp data to make it appear as real time.  This is done by sending data history when unit has returned to the coverage area.  In cases like east coast to west coast this could be 10 hours plus.  During this time no alarms can be received and no control can be carried out.  Unless you were constantly watching the unit you may not notice.

Real time data vs delayed

When using satellite if there is a delay it is minimal due to the optimal coverage provided.

Real time data vs predicted

Another solution some GSM providers use is alarm prediction.  This means if the data suggests there was going to be an alarm in future, when there is no GSM coverage an alarm is provided from the server side.  There are many alarms that cannot be predicted, many of them are shutdown alarms, or and possibly even worse you received a “predicted alarm” send out a technician at call out rates and the unit is operating perfectly.

Real time data vs predicted

As satellite coverage is almost 100% satellite has no need to predict alarms.

Worst case scenario
One example might be you had an intermodal container travelling from Perth to Adelaide.  There are hours of travel time with no GSM coverage and there has been a derailment meaning the train has stopped.

Being that you have no GSM coverage;
·         you wouldn’t be updated on fuel status
·         you wouldn’t be able to change to start/stop operation mode to save fuel
·         you wouldn’t be alerted of the shutdown or the temperature out of range

Consequences
·         You would lose the load
·         Insurance saving for installing a monitoring system could be affected
·         Reputation and brand can be hurt
·         Worst of all the possibility of a lost customer

Hopefully this has given you some answers to question the sales spin when it comes to GSM short comings.
